Valor leaders support youth development with 109km Cape Town Cycle Tour

Valor Hospitality Partners’ Global Co-Founder and CEO, Euan McGlashan, and AMEA Co-Founder and Managing Partner, Tony Romer-Lee, are taking to the iconic Cape Town Cycle Tour to champion the Amy Foundation and its mission to empower children and young adults.

The fundraising initiative will see Euan celebrate his 12th year of participation in the annual cycle tour, which is part of the UCI Golden Bike series. Tony, who is also a founding member of the Cycle Tour Planning Committee will take part for his 19th year.

Representing Valor’s commitment to supporting its neighbors, the duo continues its support for the Amy Foundation, a vital charity that champions those from historically disadvantaged communities in Cape Town.

Using the event as a platform to raise funds and awareness for youth development programs, the pair aim to raise R9,000, which will go towards education, life skills and vocational training for young people.

In addition to their fundraising efforts, Tony and Euan also sponsor an Amy Foundation staff member each year who would otherwise be unable to afford the entry fee, giving them a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to complete the Cape Town Cycle Tour.

The Amy Foundation offers a range of programmes that make a tangible difference, including after school programmes and youth skills development to equip young adults with employment readiness in a range of industries, including hospitality.

Euan McGlashan, Global Co-Founder and CEO of Valor Hospitality, commented: “Riding the Cape Town Cycle Tour isn’t just about the kilometres; it’s about the journey we take together to create opportunities for the next generation. The Amy Foundation is transforming lives through education, skills development and empowerment, and we’re very proud to support this mission, demonstrating how global expertise can be harnessed to create lasting, local impact. Every kilometre we ride brings us closer to giving these incredible young people the tools to build exciting futures.”

Tony added: “Riding the Cape Town Cycle Tour in support of the Amy Foundation feels deeply personal to me, especially when we welcome one of the team to pedal alongside us. This is an experience that instills confidence, camaraderie, and a profound sense of achievement, which perfectly sums up the foundation’s ethos of empowerment.”

Michelle Bagley, Chief Operating Officer for Amy Foundation, said: “We are incredibly grateful for our partnership with Valor Hospitality, whose support continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the young people we serve. Through their sponsorship of our Cape Town Cycle Tour jerseys, their generous contributions to our annual Gala Dinner auction, and their commitment to the Amy Foundation team, Valor demonstrates what true partnership looks like.

“What makes this support even more special is the sponsorship of a disadvantaged Amy Foundation staff member each year to participate in the Cape Town Cycle Tour, providing a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to complete the 109km ride. It is a powerful gesture of inclusion, encouragement and belief in our team.

“Together, we are not only raising funds and awareness through this iconic event, but we are investing in dignity, opportunity and long-term impact. We value this relationship deeply and look forward to continuing to grow this partnership in the years ahead.”

Valor Hospitality’s growing presence in South Africa reflects its commitment to making a meaningful difference in local communities. Embracing the philosophy of ‘A Whole World of Local’, Valor goes beyond business to support initiatives that empower and uplift.

Its partnership with the Amy Foundation spans more than the Cape Town Cycle Tour, and includes contributions to the annual Gala Dinner, sponsorship of auction items that generate vital funding, and the yearly sponsorship of Amy Foundation Cycle Tour jerseys.
