Valor Hospitality expands to West Coast with San Diego hotel signing

Valor Hospitality Partners is expanding to the West Coast with the addition of The Monsaraz, a 92-guestroom Tapestry Collection by Hilton hotel inSan Diego, marking the global full-service management company's tenth US signing in the past month.

Located in Point Loma, The Monsaraz opened in 2021 as the area's first new hotel in more than a decade. As part of the agreement, Valor Hospitality will assume full management of the boutique property, including its food and beverage operations.

The existing hotel team will also join Valor's growing family of hotelitarians, the company's collective of hospitality professionals united by a people-first culture, local expertise and a shared commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences.

The signing represents another milestone in Valor's strategic expansion across North America, demonstrating its ability to grow its portfolio while preserving the unique character and local identity of each destination it operates.

Under Valor's management, The Monsaraz will benefit from the company's proven operational expertise, commercial strategy and guest-focused approach, while continuing to celebrate the distinctive personality that has made the hotel a standout destination in Point Loma.

Reflecting the neighborhood's rich maritime heritage, the property's design pays tribute to Point Loma's Portuguese immigrant fishing roots, while its signature restaurant, Unico, brings authentic Portuguese-inspired cuisine to San Diego. Its impressive food and beverage operations will now be supported by SAVOR by Valor, the global culinary and beverage brand.

The addition of The Monsaraz forms part of Valor’s ambitious plans to grow its boutique lifestyle portfolio across key US markets, including further expansion into California and other Western states, with several new signings on the horizon.

Euan McGlashan, Global Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Valor Hospitality Partners, commented: “This is an exciting time for us during our next phase of growth while already having a global presence in 75 cities, in 26 countries. Further expansion on the West Coast has been something I’ve seen as important for us for a very long time. We could not be happier to pick up such a wonderful property, where we can bring our own brand of hospitality to such a special asset and location. We are thankful to ownership for the opportunity and will make them proud.”

Dwayne Marshall, Chief Development Officer - Americas, Valor Hospitality Partners, commented: “We are incredibly proud to welcome The Monsaraz to the Valor family as our first property on the West Coast. This signing marks an important milestone in the continued growth of our Americas portfolio and establishes a strong foundation for Valor’s expansion across the region.

“The Monsaraz is a distinctive hotel with a strong sense of place and genuine connection to the Point Loma community, making it a natural fit with our ‘A Whole World of Local’ philosophy. We look forward to working closely with the hotel team to build on what makes the property special, strengthen its market position, and drive long-term performance and asset value for ownership."
